BEIJING, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- More than 100 flights at Beijing's main airport were canceled Sunday by heavy snow falling on the Chinese capital, officials said.

The website of Beijing Capital International Airport listed 115 arrivals and departures scrubbed by the snow that covered the city and other parts of China.

China's Xinhua news agency said more than 800 workers were busy digging out the airport, which would handle about 1,500 flights on a typical day.

Light to moderate snow was expected to continue falling in northern China into Tuesday. The central and southern parts of the country were getting heavy rain, Xinhua said.
