DUBLIN, Ireland, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- An Irish developer missing for months was discovered along a roadside, emaciated, thirsty and with a slur cut into his forehead, police said Thursday.

Kevin McGeever, 68, was reported missing in June in County Galway on the west coast. Motorists found him Tuesday night on a rural road in County Leitrim, about 100 miles to the north, the Irish Independent reported.

Police said he was very thin, had long hair and a beard and long fingernails. He was taken to Mullingar Hospital.

McGeever told police he was kidnapped by armed men. But he said he could remember little of what happened to him afterwards.

He said he was dumped on the roadside from a van, the Leitrim Observer reported.

The newspapers did not report what phrase was cut into his forehead.

McGeever had a flashlight and cell phone but no wallet or money, police said.

McGeever had been with a company involved in real estate development in Dubai.
