Man held in stabbing spree; 7 wounded

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- A 33-year-old Vancouver, British Columbia, man was arrested after a stabbing spree that caused injuries to seven people, six of them hospitalized, police said.

The man, whose name was not reported, allegedly stabbed people at random Thursday in a building in Vancouver's West End, CBC News reported.

"It was fairly chaotic scene," said Sgt. Randy Fincham. "There were multiple victims in multiple spots within that apartment building."

One of the hospitalized victims had severe injuries, police said.

Fincham said the motive for the attacks was unclear.

"It appears that a lot of these victims were unrelated to each other and that they had no dealings with each other ... and that it was possibly something that happened in the hallway, and it was a random attack on all of these individuals," he said.
