COSENZA, Italy, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- An Italian woman who was arrested on suspicion of killing her father has allegedly admitted to cutting him into pieces, but only after she found him dead.
Stefania Chiurco, 37, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of killing her father, Riccardo Chiurco, 72, Italy's ANSA news agency reported.
Police were called to the house the father and daughter shared by family members who said they had not heard from Riccardo Chiurco in several days.
When police searched the house, they found eight boxes containing the dismembered remains of the father.
Stefania Chiurco told police her father went out on the evening of Dec. 27 and did not return home. She said she found two bags containing the halved body of her father on their front porch the next morning.
She decided to further cut up her father out of fear of being implicated, she allegedly told police.
An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death.
