CHONGQING, China, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Disciplinary authorities in China said they will investigate officials they suspect appeared in sex videos.
Xinhua said officials in local government departments and state-owned enterprises in China's Chongqing municipality have been fired for their involvement in the videos since Nov. 11.
Police created a special investigation team after discovering the videos, and have arrested a criminal ring suspected of hiring women to seduce officials and extort them.
Zhu Ruifeng, a journalist who publicized the issue in November, said earlier this week he has obtained videos featuring more officials.
Zhu said he has obtained the video footage from a source at the municipal public security bureau.
He plans to release the footage to motivate authorities to further investigate, Xinhua reported.
