Germany at increased risk of terror attack

BERLIN, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Germany's support for France's fight against Islamists in Mali carries an increased risk of terrorism, a classified government report indicated.

In the report German security officials warn that a radicalized individual or small group could target German interests both at home and abroad, The Local.de reported Tuesday.

The document was viewed by the German-language daily Bild which said some 50 members of Germany's militant Islamist scene traveled to al-Qaida training camps last year alone where they received instruction on how to plan attacks.

Instead of sending combat troops to Mali, Germany has increased logistical support of France.

This week Berlin agreed to send a third Transall transport plane and boost shipments of equipment to support the French campaign.
