AMMAN, Jordan, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- King Abdullah of Jordan called for revival of the Israeli-Palestinian talks and urged world leaders to restart discussions on a two-state solution.

At a meeting with members of the American Jewish Committee Sunday in Amman, Abdullah said the two-state solution is the only way to a just and comprehensive peace, The Jordan Times said Monday.

The king said the recent upgraded status of the Palestinians at the United Nations should be used to enhance efforts to end the conflict, Ammon News said.

He urged international and regional parties including the United States to revive the process, and said U.S. President Barack Obama's second term in office should be geared to securing a future for all people in the Middle East.

Abdullah said Israel must stop all unilateral action including construction in the settlements so a solution can be achieved, Ammon News said.
