MOSCOW, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Russian opposition activists on Saturday called on the government's presidential administration to release those accused in the so-called "Bolotnaya" case.

The activists also called for an investigation into the death of Russian activist Alexander Domatov, who died while in Dutch custody, RIA Novosti reported.

"People came to the presidential administration to give in a petition with a firm demand for the release of the Bolotnaya prisoners, and an objective investigation of the events on Bolotnaya Square on May 6. Our third demand is an investigation of the circumstances around the death of Dolmatov," said Left Front coordinator Sergei Udaltsov.

Bolotnaya Square was the scene of an anti-government demonstration that turned violent. Police arrested more than 400 people.

Authorities wanted to question Dolmatov about violence at the rally, but he committed suicide at a Rotterdam deportation center on Jan. 17 after the Dutch authorities denied him political asylum.
