Terror attack deaths decline in Israel

Jan. 25, 2013 at 2:22 PM

JERUSALEM, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- No Israeli was killed in 2012 in a West Bank or Jerusalem terror attack, a first since 1973, the Israeli security agency Shin Bet said.

Data released in Shin Bet's annual report revealed it thwarted about 100 major terror attacks during the year, detained 2,300 terror suspects and filed 2,170 indictments.

Although the number of Israelis throughout the country killed in terror attacks dropped to 10 in 2012, the number of attacks rose from 320 in 2011 to 578 in 2012, the data said.

The attacks included 11 instances in which missiles were fired at Israeli air force jets, the Israeli new service Ynetnews said Friday.
