15,000 crocodiles escape farm, on loose

PONT DRIFT, South Africa, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- About 15,000 crocodiles have escaped from a farm in South Africa, officials said.

The crocs escaped from Rakwena farm Sunday into the Limpopo River and have since been spotted downstream, Beeld newspaper reported.

"We will catch them as the farmers call us and say there are crocodiles. In Weipe there are many and I heard there were crocodiles in Musina on the school's football field," said Zane Langman, the son of Johan Boshoff, who owns the farm.

The crocodiles escaped when the river became flooded, Langman said.
