Microbus collision in Egypt kills 14

NEW ASSIUT, Egypt, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- A microbus collided with a truck in Upper Egypt Monday, killing 14 people, including three children, and injuring 14 others, officials said.

A security force official told Egypt's official MENA news agency the crash happened on the Red Sea-Assiut Road near the entrance to the city of New Assiut.

Security forces began clearing the wreckage from the road as ambulances transported those injured to local hospitals.

Mostafa Abu Ghadir, deputy insurance and social affairs minister in Assiut, said compensation will be paid to the injured and the families of those who died in the crash.
