ISLAMABAD, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Afghan Taliban prisoners held by Pakistan will be released, foreign officials announced, a signal the government seeks reconciliation in Afghanistan.

"The remaining detainees, we are coordinating, and they will be released subsequently. The aim is to release all," said Pakistan's foreign secretary Jalil Jilani during a news conference in Abu Dhabi Friday.

The list of prisoners includes the Afghan Taliban's second-in-command leader Mullah Baradar, the Afghan Khaama Press reported.

In a bid to support the peace and reconciliation process in Afghanistan, Pakistan agreed to the release in November 2012, Khaama Press noted.
