BEIRUT, Lebanon, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Four Italian journalists were detained by Lebanese forces while traveling with a U.N. security team in the country, their newspaper said.
The reporters worked for the Bologna, Italy, newspaper Il Resto del Carlino. They were stopped and held for an hour and their cellphones and cameras were taken, ANSA news agency said Monday. They were traveling with the U.N. security team in the Hezbollah-controlled village of Aita al-Shaab, located about three miles from the Israeli border.
None of the journalists were injured, but their equipment was not returned, their newspaper said. They were freed shortly after being detained when Lebanese military officials intervened.
