Britain's oldest man dies at 110

LONDON, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Reg Dean, Great Britain's oldest man, has died, a family friend said. He was 110 years, 63 days old.

Dean was born Nov. 4, 1902, in Tunstall, Staffordshire. He survived two world wars, having served as a chaplain in Burma during World War II. He was ordained as a minister in the Anglican church in 1920 and went on to serve as a minister in the United Reform Church, retiring when he turned 80, the BBC said.

He founded a men's choral group, the Dalesmen Male Voice Choir, and took up painting in his 80s, friends said.

When asked the secret to his longevity, Dean joked it was "being lazy."

Dean was married three times as leaves behind a son and two grandchildren.
