Transcripts of Morsi interviews released

JERUSALEM, Jan. 4 (UPI) -- Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, in interviews in 2010 with a Lebanese broadcaster, said a two-state solution cannot resolve the Palestinian issue.

The Middle East Media Research Institute has just released transcripts of translations of Morsi's interviews, The Jerusalem Post reported. They were broadcast on Al-Quds TV in March and September 2010.

Morsi said Arab countries should have no ties to Israel. He said the Palestinian Authority isn't legitimate, calling it the creation of "the Zionist and American enemies for the sole purpose of opposing the will of the Palestinian people."

He also said there are two alternatives -- caving in to Israel demands or war.

"This is what these occupiers of the land of Palestine know -- these bloodsuckers, who attack the Palestinians, these warmongers, the descendants of apes and pigs," Morsi said.

Morsi, a U.S.-trained engineer, was elected to the Egyptian Parliament in 2000 as an independent affiliated with the banned Muslim Brotherhood. In 2011, he was chosen by the Muslim Brotherhood's guidance office to be president of the Freedom and Justice Party, which formed after the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak.

Morsi became president of Egypt in June 2012.
