Most in France want gay-marriage vote

Jan. 4, 2013 at 11:19 AM   |   Comments

PARIS, Jan. 4 (UPI) -- Most French people say they would like to have a referendum on same-sex marriage and adoption rights for gay couples, a poll shows.

An online survey by the weekly magazine Valeurs actuelles, conducted Dec. 18-20, found that 69 percent of respondents said they favored a referendum, Radio France Internationale reported.

France's National Assembly is to consider a bill later this month that would legalize same-sex marriage and the right for homosexual couples to adopt children.
