KIEV, Ukraine, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- A man searching for kidney donors, allegedly part of an organ trafficking ring in Ukraine, will be charged in court, prosecutors in Kiev said.

The unnamed man allegedly sought healthy young people in financial difficulty, and offered $10,000 for a kidney. He found at least six willing people and received a fee of $2,000 for each one, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office said Thursday in a statement.

He allegedly supplied potential donors with necessary paperwork to travel to Ecuador, Costa Rica and Sri Lanka for the surgeries, prosecutors said.

If convicted, he faces up to 12 years imprisonment, the Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported Thursday, noting prosecutors did not elaborate on other suspected members of the ring.
