DONETSK, Ukraine, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Rescuers found the body of a miner who was one of three workers missing after a methane gas explosion at a coal mine in Ukraine, officials said Thursday.

The gas explosion at the Komsomolets Donbassa coal mine near Donetsk caused the shaft to collapse, trapping four miners underground, RIA Novosti reported. One miner escaped.

The Donetsk Region Prosecutor's Office said the fate of an engine driver and assistant section foreman was not known.

Officials said the accident was under investigation.
