LAUNDA, Angola, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- The number of people who died in a stampede at Cidadela Sports Stadium in Launda, Angola, rose to 10, a first-responder official said.

The stampede broke out Monday when people were preparing to enter the stadium for a vigil of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God.

Angola Press said Tuesday that six adults and four children died and at least 120 people were injured. No reason about what caused the stampede was reported.

Faustino Sebastiao, a spokesman for the National Firefighters Department, said the dead were either crushed or asphyxiated.
