PESHAWAR, Pakistan, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- Militants attacked three government checkpoints in northern Pakistan, killing two guards with 22 others believed to have been kidnapped, officials said.
The attacks took place early Thursday in Peshawar, Pakistan. Two checkpoints were destroyed and multiple weapons and vehicles were taken by the attackers, the Dawn newspaper reported.
Dozens of guards were posted at the three posts and 22 are unaccounted for, officials said.
No one has claimed responsibility and no ransom has been asked for the soldiers' return.
