BIEN HOA, Vietnam, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- A bus driver in Vietnam allegedly stabbed a rider and beat his son during a dispute, police said.

Tran Van Chinh, 49, stopped the bus in the town of Bien Hoa, 20 miles north of Ho Chi Minh City and got into an argument with the two riders, during which Chinh stabbed the elder victim in the stomach, officials allege. An assistant on the bus allegedly used a chain to beat the man's son as he tried to protect his injured father, Viet Nam News said Wednesday.

Chinh was arrested but the assistant fled, police said.
