OTTAWA, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Canada's postal carriers delivered a record 50 million pieces of mail last Thursday, Canada Post officials say.
The postal service also set a record by delivering more than 1 million parcels on Dec. 13, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Monday.
"We were ready for this. Our whole business is changing and has in the last few years with the onset of e-commerce and online shopping," Canada Post spokesman John Caines said. "I haven't seen a computer yet that can deliver those parcels, but that's where we come in."
The record deliveries are part of what Canada Post projects will be a total of 1 billion pieces of mail delivered during the holiday season.
