CAIRO, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was taken to a military hospital in Cairo after falling, fracturing his hip and bruising his skull, officials said.

Mubarak underwent a battery of tests at the Maadi hospital where he reportedly spent nearly an hour before he was transported to the Tora Prison Hospital, Ahram Online reported Thursday.

The ousted ruler was transported late Wednesday after he fell in Tora Prison, Ahram Online reported Thursday. After undergoing a battery of tests at the Maadi Military Hospital, he was returned to the Tora Prison Hospital, officials said.

Mubarak was sent to Tora Prison in June after his conviction on charges he failed to stop the killing of peaceful protesters during Arab Spring demonstrations that led to his ouster last year. For months during his trial he was in the International Medical Center, a military hospital on the Cairo-Ismailia road.
