Officers from the anti-extremism division participated in the search of the apartments of Alexander Boldyrev, leader of the local Solidarity unit, and Natalia Zvyagina, opposition and human rights activist, attorney Olga Gnezdilova told RIA Novosti.
While police declined to say what prompted the search, Gnezdilova said it was tied to the police investigation of an alleged coup plot.
Three leftist activists, Left Front leader Sergei Udaltsov, Leonid Razvozzhayev and Konstantin Lebedev, have been accused of plotting to overthrow President Vladimir Putin with foreign assistance. All have denied the accusations.
Lebedev and Razvozzhayev were in jail and Udaltsov was ordered not to leave Moscow.
