JAMMU, India, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Police said at least 10 people were killed and six others injured when a minibus rolled down a 500-foot gorge in the Reasi district of India.

"It appears that the driver of the minibus lost control over the steering while negotiating a curve," a police officer said.

Indo-Asian News Service said the minibus was carrying 16 people from Mahore to Jammu.

IANS said the six injured passengers were taken to the Reasi government hospital.

Hospital sources said four of them were in critical condition.

The mountainous roads of Jammu and Kashmir are known for their frequent accidents and eight people were killed Sunday in an accident in the Doda district, the news agency said.
