6.1-magnitude quake rumbles in Indonesia

GORONTALO, Indonesia, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck Monday near the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

The earthquake, about 11 miles deep, was 101 miles south-southeast of Gorontalo on Sulawesi, 167 miles south-southwest of Manado, also on Sulawesi, 266 miles west-southwest of Ternate, on Moluccas Island in Indonesia, and 557 miles north-northwest of Dili, East Timor.
