Swedish woman rescued from snowed-in car

SOLBERG, Sweden, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- A woman in northern Sweden was rescued after being stuck in her snowed-in car for 18 hours, officials said.

The woman lost control of her vehicle around 4 p.m. Wednesday on a rarely used forest road near the small town of Solberg, the Swedish news agency TT reported.

Thursday morning a passerby noticed the woman's car and contacted emergency services.

"She was completely responsive but a little frozen," when authorities arrived, Arne Berggren of the Ornskoldsvik emergency services told the Expressen newspaper.

"As luck would have it, she was very properly dressed. That's why she's put up with the cold," Berggren said.

It is unclear whether the woman, who was recovering at a hospital, was in fact stuck, or if she refused to abandon the vehicle.
