NEW DELHI, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- A wall under construction in New Delhi, India, collapsed, killing at least five children, a fire official said.

The collapse happened Wednesday in the Dallupura area as the children -- all under the age of 10 -- were playing, the Indo-Asian News Service reported.

"We got a telephone call at 9.30 a.m. We managed to pull out five children from the rubble and rushed them to hospital," the official said.

The children were pronounced dead at the hospital.

A rescue operation was underway, as officials feared others may have been buried in the debris.
