ANTALYA, Turkey, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Severe weather in Turkey left one person dead, more than a dozen stranded and forced officials to cancel classes at some schools, authorities said.

A fisherman from Izmir died after his boat capsized early Monday in heavy wind and rain, Today's Zaman reported.

In Antalya, authorities closed schools because of the weather conditions.

In Mugla's Koycegiz district, a snowstorm stranded 14 students on Sandiras Mountain Sunday Today's Zaman said.

Crews from Koycegiz cleared a road so rescue teams could reach the students, officials said. One woman was hospitalized for severe hypothermia and the rest were taken to a nearby village.
