Hells Angels members deported from Canada

OTTAWA, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- The Canadian Immigration and Refugee Board has ruled being a member of the Hells Angels biker gang is enough to warrant the deportation of non-citizens.

The decision came as four Hells Angels members have been deported from Canada for membership in a criminal organization, the National Post reported Thursday.

The ruling applies to current members, as well as prospect and former members.

Alejandro Mariano Chung, 43, a Chilean national who came to Canada in 1979 but never received citizenship, was the most recently deported Hells Angels member.

Chung was not a "full-patch member," or officially in the gang, but was rather labelled a "hang-around," or someone who is in the process of becoming a full-fledged member.

"The business of the Hells Angels is crime," the IRB ruled. "From the organization's point of view it would make no sense to invest time in bringing Mr. Chung up through the ranks unless he was going to be part of their criminal activity."

Chung was deported last month, but has filed an appeal with the Federal Court of Canada, seeking to return.
