SULEJA, Nigeria, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Four students at a school in Nigeria were killed and nine injured when a truck drove into the building after its brakes failed, officials said.

The incident happened Tuesday evening at an Islamic school in Suleja town in the Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State, the Nigerian Leadership newspaper reported.

The truck's braking system failed and it veered into the school as students were gathering there to recite the Koran.

Four students were killed, while nine others suffered severe injuries.

The truck driver may have been fleeing the scene of another accident before running into the school, officials said.
