QUORN, Australia, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- A young woman whose body was found Wednesday morning along a road in South Australia was killed, police said.

Police announced they have launched a murder investigation into Jessie Leigh Fullerton's death, Adelaide Now reported.

Detective Superintendent Grant Moyle, the police officer in charge of the investigation, said Fullerton, 22, was driving home from a hotel and was killed near her grandparents' house near Quorn.

"This is very devastating for the local community," Moyle said.

Adelaide Now described Fullerton as a camel jockey who was well known in the area. Quorn is a small Outback town that began as a major railhead and railway junction.

Fullerton also had a certificate in childcare and worked with children in Port Augusta.
