BANGALORE, India, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- At least 10 people in a minibus died after it collided head-on with a public transport vehicle near Bangalore, India, police said.

Those killed in the accident late Monday on a rural road about 30 miles from the southern city included the driver, five women and a 13-year-old girl, the Times of India reported.

Witnesses said the overloaded minibus was carrying at least 35 people, most of them workers from an industrial area. Several people were injured and at least three of them were listed in critical condition at a local hospital, the Times said.

One of the injured told police the minibus driver tried to overtake another vehicle and collided with the public transport vehicle coming from the opposite direction.
