RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- A Royal Saudi Air Force F-15 jet crashed into territorial seawaters off Saudi Arabia Monday and a search for the pilot was under way, officials said.

The jet, manned by Pilot Officer Fahad Bin Faleh al-Msarir of King Abdulaziz Air Base, was on a training mission when the crash occurred, the Saudi Ministry of Defense said.

Rescuers were searching for al-Msarir, and a technical team was formed to investigate the cause of the accident, the Kuwait News Agency KUNA reported.
