CAIRO, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- An Egyptian military court ordered a two-day recess Sunday in the trial of 25 residents of an island accused of resisting eviction by the armed forces.

One person was killed and several were injured when the residents were forcibly removed from their homes on Qursaya Island last month after it was declared a staging area for military units providing security for Cairo, al-Mosry, al-Youm reported.

The armed forces contended it is the rightful owner of the island and the people it evicted had been living there illegally.
