HARBIN, China, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- More than a dozen Chinese coal miners were trapped underground Sunday when water poured into a mine in Heilongjian Province, officials said.
Two workers were rescued from the mine, which is operated by Furuixiang Coal Co., officials in the city of Harbin told China's Xinhua news agency.
Six other miners managed to scramble to safety on their own ahead of the rising water.
Emergency crews were on the scene and were setting up equipment to pump the water out of the mine, Xinhua said.
