Search ends for missing cruise passenger

Dec. 1, 2012 at 2:02 PM

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- The U.S. Coast Guard said it was calling off the search for a passenger who may have gone overboard from a cruise ship off Puerto Rico.

Jason Rappe, 42, a resident of Washington state, was reported missing Thursday from the Holland America Line vessel Eurodam.

Rappe's wife made the initial report and later identified a cap found on the deck as belonging to the missing man.

Coast Guard Capt. Drew Pearson told the South Florida Sun Sentinel searchers had scoured the area around the clock since the report was received.
