ST. JOHN'S, Newfoundland, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Power was restored Friday to many areas of Canada's Newfoundland province after strong winds and heavy snow caused outages, officials said.

Electric service was still out in some places, CBC News reported.

Newfoundland Power said damage to overhead lines caused the outages, which began Thursday.

Service at St. John's International Airport was delayed briefly after the power went out Thursday. Some passengers had to deplane and walk through high winds to the terminal.
