Activists destroy soybeans in France

LORIENT, France, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- About 100 environmental activists gathered in the French port of Lorient and destroyed a cargo of genetically modified soybeans, officials said.

The protest occurred Friday morning, Radio France Internationale reported.

Protesters climbed to the top of a silo and poured ricin oil over the soybeans in an effort to render them unusable. The grain was destined to be used as animal feed, said the activists, who demanded an end to GM soy imports.
