Suspect rapist has genitals burned

Nov. 21, 2012 at 12:47 PM

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Dubai's highest court has affirmed the three-year jail sentence given to three students for burning the genitals of a Nigerian man and beating him to death.

The Dubai Cassation Court rejected the students' appeal for a reduced sentence and also denied the prosecution's request for stiffer punishment, Gulf News reported.

The three, identified as a female college student from Nigeria and two countrymen, pleaded not guilty and said they didn't intend to cause the victim's death.

They said the victim was tortured for raping the woman.

Prosecutors said instead of reporting the rape to police, the three lured the victim to a flat where they beat him until he collapsed.

They removed his clothes and the woman burned his genitals.

A police forensic examiner said the victim died from intracranial bleeding.

The identities of the victim and the accused were not released.
