U.S. Marine arrested in Japan

NAHA, Japan, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- A U.S. Marine Corps first lieutenant was arrested for allegedly trespassing at an apartment in Japan, police said.

Thomas Chanquet, 24, stationed at the U.S. Marine Corps' Futenma Air Station in Ginowan in Okinawa prefecture, was arrested for allegedly trespassed by entering without permission a fourth-floor apartment of a building in Naha, Kyodo reported Sunday.

An acquaintance of the person who lived in the apartment, who was out at the time, saw Chanquet enter a bedroom and sleep there.

The resident was notified and called the police.

Naha police said Chanquet was drunk.
