BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Protesters called for the Azerbaijan parliament to be dissolved amid an investigation into allegations the ruling party sold seats to some lawmakers.
About 20 people were detained by police in the capital Baku Saturday during a noisy rally organized by the opposition Musavat and Popular Front parties, but not approved by the government.
Russia's RIA Novosti news agency said demonstrators chanted "resign" and other slogans and demanded parliament be dissolved.
RIA Novosti said protests began last month when a video surfaced showing a ruling party official allegedly offering a seat in parliament for $1 million. Baku prosecutors are investigating the incident.
