McAfee says he won't turn himself in

BELMOPAN, Belize, Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Millionaire software company founder John McAfee, who has been accused of killing his neighbor in Belize and is now in hiding, says he will not surrender.

In an exclusive interview with the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph, McAfee denied any involvement in the death of his neighbor, U.S. businessman Gregory Viant Faull.

Faull, 52, who lived about 300 yards from McAfee on Ambergris Caye, an island off Belize, was fatally shot Saturday night.

"I was at home. I heard nothing. I knew nothing until the following day," McAfee said.

McAfee said he is in hiding and intermittently has access to TV and the Internet to follow the search for him.

"I wish I had a TV. That would be very informative. I'm keeping tabs through friends. I have intermittent access to the Internet, again through friends," he said. "They nationalized the phone company and so they can trace calls and triangulate. I cannot talk on this phone for long."

When asked if there was any possibility he would turn himself in, he said: "No."

"I think I will be summarily executed," McAfee said regarding what he thought would happen to him if he turned himself in.

He said: "The constitution has been ridden away with. They can make up some excuse for removing me. This is the way it is in this country."
