SYDNEY, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- An Australian inmate plotted from his jail cell to kill the man he blamed for his brother's 2009 shooting death, a jury in Sydney was told.

But Michael Ibrahim's alleged plan to kill John Macris was thwarted when police raided an associate's home and found a firearm, a silencer, an address and two photographs of Macris, the Sydney Morning Herald reported Wednesday.

Ibrahim, 34, and associate Rodney Atkinson are on trial in Sydney District Court on charges of conspiring to kill Macris. Both men have pleaded innocent.

Crown Prosecutor Eric Balodis said Michael Ibrahim headed the conspiracy from behind bars using a mobile telephone that had been smuggled into his cell at the correctional center.

Ibrahim's brother Fadi was shot to death in June 2009 while he was sitting in his Lamborghini outside his home.

A feud between the Ibrahim and Macris families was fueled by a fight in a nightclub shortly before Fadi was killed, the jury was told.
