MATERA, Italy, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Italian police allege a man they arrested had pretended to be a gynecologist to con women into sending revealing pictures of themselves to him.

The suspect, who was not identified, counseled nine women on the phone and convinced them to send him intimate pictures of themselves via email, the Italian news agency ANSA reported Wednesday. He sought out the women in online chat rooms and conned them by using the names of real doctors in Bologna.

The man was already on house arrest for an unrelated sex crime, ANSA said. Investigators said there may be other victims.
