TEHRAN, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Iranian military officials said they successfully struck an airborne drone with a homegrown missile defense system Wednesday.

A Shalamcheh missile was fired at the unmanned aircraft, striking and destroying it, Press TV reported. The drill came on the third day of extensive war games being conducted by the Islamic republic.

The military said it used radar detection devices to locate manned and unmanned foreign aircraft and the Iranian-developed, medium-distance missile to destroy it.
