PESHAWAR, Pakistan, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Six people died and 31 were injured Wednesday when a suicide bomber attacked a marketplace in Peshawar, Pakistan, police said.

Police officer Imran Shahid said three police officers, two civilians and the bomber died in the attack on Storytellers Market.

Peshawar -- the capital of Kybher Paktunkhwa province -- serves as the gateway to the country's tribal region, which has a strong militant presence, CNN reported. The city has been on the front line of the Pakistani government's fight with groups like the Taliban.
