VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- An anti-bullying support video for gay children and youth has been posted on YouTube by 20 gay Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers.
The 10-minute clip features male and female Mounties from British Columbia describing the taunting and ordeals they experienced while growing up, the Globe and Mail reported.
The video was uploaded as part of the 2-year-old "It Gets Better" movement aimed at ending bullying and suicidal tendencies of targeted youth.
Police officers in San Francisco and Austin, Texas, released similar videos earlier this year although the RCMP's represents a much larger force, with 30,000 employees, the Globe and Mail said.
In the video, Constable Russel Olsen speaks of growing up surrounded by stereotypes.
"If you were gay you kind of had to be an artist, or a makeup artist or you worked retail," Olsen says. "You kind of had a job that wasn't necessarily considered masculine."
