Woman dies after being mauled by dogs

LONDON, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- A 71-year-old British woman died after being mauled by her daughter's five dogs in London, authorities said.

Gloria Knowles was found dead with multiple injuries from being mauled by dogs at a house in south London Tuesday evening, The Guardian reported.

Officers were called to the residence after neighbors heard screaming coming from the rear of the property.

Knowles was feeding five dogs -- two Bordeaux bulldogs, two American bulldogs and a mixed-breed -- that lived with her, Beverley, in the house next-door to her own, police said.

Officers seized five dogs from the property and no arrests have been made.

Police said it is still unclear whether Knowles suffered a cardiac arrest before or after she was mauled by the dogs.

A police spokeswoman said Knowles "sustained a number of injuries. An investigation is under way to establish a cause of death."
