Italy sentences 3 Germans in WWII massacre

ROME, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- An Italian court sentenced three aging German military veterans to life in prison for their role in a World War II massacre.

The three were sentenced Friday in a military appeals court, which also acquitted three other defendants.

The former Nazis, all in their 90s, had been part of the German army's Hermann Goering Division and had been charged in the 1944 massacre of about 400 Italian citizens in Tuscany, Italy's ANSA news agency said.
